Overview

This course aims at presenting the chronological steps to be undertaken when planning and implementing a relief intervention. The course covers the main approaches of emergency relief, including an introduction to nutritional assessments, and focuses on the planning and implementation of various types of relief interventions.

Relief interventions aim primarily at saving lives and protecting livelihoods at immediate risk. This is achieved by providing access to the economic goods essential for the survival of the targeted population when they can no longer obtain these by their own means.

A relief intervention consists of the distribution of one of the following items, or a combination thereof: food, essential household items (EHI), seeds and tools, cash, vouchers, in-kind grants, veterinary vaccines and drugs, animals, etc.

This course gives the opportunity for each participant to practice methods and tools.

This course is also available in French. Ce cours peut également être animé en français.
